Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Kerala is now famous as Thiruvananthapuram Treasure Temple all over the world. In July 2011, the seven member panel appointed by the Supreme Court of India opened the secret chambers (known as Nilavara in Malayalam) of the Trivandrum Lord Vishnu temple to prepare a list of valuable treasure kept the temple. The finding of the ancient treasure in the temple was a wonder to the whole world - more than Rs. 100,000 crore (US$22.3 billion) treasure were found in the secret cellars of the temple. The Thiruvananthapuram Treasure (nidhi in Malayalam) includes ancient gold ornaments, golden crown, 18th century Napoleonic era coins, gold coconut shells, a 3.5 feet tall gold idol of Mahavishnu studded with rubies and emeralds, diamond, ruby, and other precious stones were some of the main findings in Sri Padmanabhaswamy Temple.
